時代もジャンルも国籍も飛び越えて歌い継がれる名曲




キャロル・キング 2月9日生まれ


1958年にデビューして、1971年のグラミー賞ではベスト・アルバム賞、最優秀女性ボーカル・パフォーマンス賞、ベスト・シングル賞、ベスト・ソング賞の主要4部門を受賞するという快挙を成し遂げたキャロル・キング。
ソングライターとして他のシンガーやグループに曲を提供したり、カバーされることも多かった彼女が作った懐かしの名曲を「この曲も作っていたのー!」なんて驚きつつ何曲か聴いてみました。


The Loco-Motion / リトル・エヴァ


リトル・エヴァはキャロル・キングの家のベビーシッターだったのだとか!
人生どこで変わるかわかりませんね!!

他に、シルヴィ・バルタン、カイリー・ミノーグなどにカバーされています。


Natural Woman / アレサ・フランクリン


この曲もホイットニー・ヒューストン、メアリー・J・ブライジなどにカバーされている名曲ですね^^


You've Got a Friend / マイケル・ジャクソン


この曲に至ってはゴスペル、ジャズ、カントリー・・・ジャンルや国籍も様々な多くのミュージシャンがカバーしていていて、本当に驚きました。
そのままコピペしてしまいますが、日本のピンクレディーや小野リサなどの名前もありますね。
あとでいろいろなバージョンを探して聴いてみたいと思います。

たしかデビューが早かったんですよね?
「君の友達」、僕はLettermenっていうアメリカの男性3人組のバージョンが好きでした。洋楽の入口が彼等だったので・・・・

そうですね。
42年生まれなので、16歳でデビューしてます。

邦題が「君の友達」でしたねw
男性の声で聴くのもしっくりきますね。
こんなにも多くの人にカバーされているのは温かみのあるメロディーと
歌詞に癒されるからでしょうかv-410
